The European University for Tourism was founded in 2008 in Tirana (Albania) to perform provisions of the European Commission Tourism Unit – Directorate General Enterprise – that the “Agenda for a sustainable and competitive European tourism”, COM (2007) 621 on 19th October 2007,on 3.2.1. seeks to mobilize specialists of tourism to produce and share knowledge in order to support the development of sustainable tourism.
The University, which was authorized by the Council Ministry of the Republic of Albania on 4th June 2008, is a unique example of a Euro-Mediterranean University that focuses didactic activities as well as scientific and applied research on sustainable tourism as a factor for local development.
